چکیده
Abstract Recent empirical analyses show consumers in electricity and water markets respond to average price rather than marginal price, calling for information provision policies that help correct the consumers’ bias. This paper characterizes regulated tariff if regulator is informed about average-price response of consumers. I find biased promotes equity gains by featuring quantity premia providing access utility consumption a larger population world rational The can also yield higher total welfare. These results bring up opportunity costs programs

Dynamic Nonlinear Pricing: biased expectations, inattention, and bill shock
Recent research highlights the importance of biased expectations and inattention for nonlinear pricing in dynamic environments. Findings are: (1) Three-part tariffs, such as cellular service contracts, exploit consumer overconfidence. (2) Surprise penalty fees may be used to further exploit biased beliefs or alternatively to price discriminate more efficiently whenever consumers are inattentive...

As the generalizations of mathematical expectations, coherent and convex risk measures, Choquet expectation and Peng’s g-expectations all have been widely used to study the question of hedging contingent claims in incomplete markets. Obviously, the different risk measures or expectations will typically yield different pricing. In this paper we investigate differences amongst these risk measures ...
متن کاملHindsight biased policy evaluation ∗
In this paper we present a political-agency model in which voters exhibit a cognitive deficiency known as hindsight bias: after the uncertainty about an event is resolved, they consider the realized outcome more foreseeable than it actually was. For their reelection decision, voters evaluate the politician’s ability based on the history of observed actions and outcomes. High ability is defined ...
متن کاملNonlinear Pricing and Oligopoly
We consider the general problem of price discrimination with nonlinear pricing in an oligopoly setting where firms are spatially differentiated. We characterize the nature of optimal pricing schedules which in turn depends importantly upon the type of private information which the customer possesses – either horizontal uncertainty regarding brand preference or vertical uncertainty regarding qua...

This paper is a rst look at the dynamic e¤ects of BBPD in a horizontally di¤erentiation product market, where rms need to invest in advertising to generate awareness. When a rm is able to recognize customers with di¤erent purchasing histories, it may send them targeted advertisements with di¤erent prices. We show that in comparison to no discrimination, rms reduce their advertising e¤orts, ...
